The inspiration for Dr. Hart came from the challenge of designing a packaging that truly reflects the product's purpose. The name itself, "Doctor Hart," proved to be instrumental in shaping the concept. The design incorporates different colored ties, symbolizing various health issues that the product addresses, while keeping the wrapper untouched. This differentiation strategy ensures that each product stands out on the shelf.
One of the key strengths of Dr. Hart is its visual identity, which provides excellent brand visibility. The packaging design was created from scratch, with the main goal of establishing a strong connection between the consumer and the brand. By bringing "the doctor in the house" through the packaging, Dr. Hart aims to create a sense of trust and reliability.
The realization of the design involves printing on white cardboard with a glossy varnish, using flexo technology. Each pack is designed with a maximum of five Pantone colors, including one for the category, one for the subtitle and product, black, cool grey, and flavor (if applicable). The package's orientation is tailored to the product inside, with landscape orientation for small pills and portrait orientation for bottles, such as cough syrups.
The Dr. Hart project started in September 2014 and is still ongoing, as the range of products continues to expand to address different types of illnesses and health problems. The design team, led by Creative Director Irinel Ionescu, Senior Designer Lehel Mor Mako, and Junior Designers Raluca Popan and Viorica Pintilie, worked collaboratively to develop the concept in three phases, resulting in a memorable and engaging design.
Extensive research underlies the Dr. Hart design, which comprises 25 high-quality alimentary supplements, including syrups and remedies for bilious or urinary infections. The products are known for their affordability and the brand's association with a modern, reliable doctor who provides useful advice and moral support. The clean look and feel of the packaging, predominantly white, was a creative challenge that the team successfully overcame to create a distinctive and contemporary design.
Dr. Hart has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2016, which honors top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the design's exceptional expertise, innovation, technical characteristics, and artistic skill, evoking positive emotions, amazement, and wonder.
